This is an important part of commercial roofing maintenance

If you have a business, one of the things that you should do is keep up with regular commercial roofing maintenance. Below are four tips that you can use to help your business’s roof to work the best it can for years to come.

1. Maintain Your Roof Covers

Remove the debris on it and inspect it for missing or loose materials on a regular basis. You also should inspect it after work’s done on your roof. If you are noticing peeling or bubbling, think about replacing your roof cover.

2. Maintain the Drainage Systems of Your Roof

Inspect and clean your roof’s drainage system every six months. If you have problems with leaves clogging the system, do this more frequently. Check the roof drains for cracks and repair them. This is an important part of commercial roofing maintenance.

3. Check Perimeter Flashing

Check your flashing for missing or loose flashing pieces, since this can cause your roof cover to fail and water to get in during periods of high wind. You should also inspect the flashing around equipment on the roof, roof hatches and curbs.

4. Inspect Your Skylights

Inspect the skylights for leaks, curb securement and cracks. Look for any wood that’s rotting in the curb and fix it. The last thing you want is for leaks to come through the skylight.

These are four tips that you can use for commercial roofing maintenance. Properly maintaining your roof will help protect your investment, your clients, your employees and your customers, along with all of your equipment.
