three general dentistry mistakes that people often will make

You only get one set of natural teeth, so you want to take care of them. Below are three general dentistry mistakes that people often will make when it comes to their teeth.

1. Using the Wrong Toothbrush

Many people mistakenly believe that a toothbrush has to have hard bristles in order to do a good job. Sometimes it can be a good idea, but for your daily brushing it’s a bad idea. It can cause your gums to be irritated and can hurt your tooth enamel. So, you want to choose one with soft bristles unless your dentist says differently.

2. Chewing Ice

A lot of people love to chew their ice, thinking its fine because it’s made of water. But when you chew on something hard, like ice, it can cause broken, cracked or chipped teeth. It also can loosen your crowns. Rather than getting ice in your drink, chill it otherwise or drink it without ice. Or, if you must have ice, leave it in the glass or cup where it belongs.

3. Not Flossing

Many people brush their teeth, but they forget that brushing is only part of the equation. So, make sure that you are flossing as well as brushing, since flossing gets the stuff from between your teeth. This is one of the most repeated reminders when it comes to general dentistry.

If you want your teeth to be healthy and you want to avoid dental problems, remember to avoid making these general dentistry mistakes. You’ll find that your teeth are a lot healthier and that you are much happier.
